Back-to-school can be an exciting time for many parents, caregivers, and their children
and for some parents/caregivers and their children, it can be an anxiety-producing time. With the start of the new school year, it is SO important that we talk about what your child needs to succeed. We know that success looks different for EVERY child. One major way we set children up for success during the school year is to think critically about the many ways that we can support their Mental health, and that's what this series is about.
This week’s episode is an interview with Dr. Therese Morrison. Therese Clarke Morrison is the Director of School Psychology for KIPP NYC’s Elementary Schools. Dr. Morrison also owns an Event Planning and Design firm that specializes in planning weddings, social events, and corporate functions. Most importantly, she is a wife, and mom of two boys— ages 11 months and 2 years old.
This episode is PACKED with information. In this episode, we talk all about how parents and caregivers can navigate services for their children in a school setting, which can be a very overwhelming process. We talk about educational law, how to start the process of getting services for your child, 504 plans, IEPs, and everything else in between.
